Default Son of a bitch!!!

So, last night....I leave work, get in the car, turn it on, and start hearing the lovely HLA tick that the tiburons are notorious for. It wasnt cold, so it didnt have anything to do with the weather. The noise continued all the way until I got home. Pulled in the garage, opened the hood, and what do I see? My freaking oil cap is missing and oil is splattered all over my engine. I checked my oil level on the dipstick, and there was next to nothing in the engine. No idea how this happened. I did have an aftermarket one installed, but it was on there pretty good and tight. And I havent been to a mechanic anytime lately, so it wasnt someone who forgot to tighten it back on.

So in a frantic rush to find my OEM cap, I looked everywhere and couldnt find anything. So, filled the engine back up with some new oil, and stuck a rag (sticking out the top of it) in the hole to provide any more oil from splattering all over. I called the dealer, and a bunch of auto part stores, and no one has anything available. I have to order it and the earliest I found that anyone would have anything is Monday of next week! God damnt!!!

So now I have to drive around with no oil cap and a rag plugging the hole through out the weekend until a new cap comes in. I'm glad theres a group buy going on at RDT for new aftermarket caps, because it couldnt of happened at a better time. tongue.gif huh.gif

I have like.. 3 of them.. You can have one. lol.

but yeah, that does suck major balls. I wonder how that could've happened? maybe the locking tabs on the aftermarket one broke because it was on too tight? I dunno.. strange stuff man.

Seems a little strange. Glad to hear you got home before you were completely empty. How's the engine bay? Destroyed or what?

Its covered in oil. sad.gif Thank god I'm putting the car away in about 2 weeks for the winter season. I'll leave it as is for now, but over the winter....I'll detail the living SH*T out of the engine bay and make it sparkle again, for spring.

I guess the bright side to being covered in oil is you won't have to worry about rust, lol. That sucks though man.

I hate it when stuff like this happens. Take it easy on the car until you have a replacement cap.
