That's bad news kid. Sorry to hear about that. I just bought an external hd so i could back up all the files on my laptop in case something like that happened. Take it to a shop and have them check it out. Even if your hard drive is toast sometimes they can still pull files off it if they are worth that much to you.

Yea I took it to the computer shop and they said theyd try to keep all the files but a lot of the programs I have on there are going to be gone. So I have to call my dad and tell him to send me over some of my cd's that i got with the laptop.

Ugh, firs the car and now this. I swear I can never catch a break.

That sucks! Was it the hd that died? Will you just be able to put in a new one? Or was it something else?

LMAO... bunch of morons. EVERY file can be saved.. not every program, but most of them too... People at the shop are just lazy.

All they need to do is to slave the HDD to the other computer and copy paste...Even if drive is dying you can save data.. Freezing it works too...

If GeekSquad agent would tell you that - he'd be fired on spot... lmao.gif

Also, if OS isn't starting.. it is totally not neccesary that HDD is dead.. even if it is "dead" sometimes you can revive it.

and how can you not know if drive is dead? it is obvious.. there are bunch of simple fast tests you can do...

Ya, any shop could do it but in the end it's not very cost effective because there's a lot of labor time involved. So unless you have a lot of valuable info you can't afford to lose, it's usually not worth it.

Loyen, I dont know that much about computers to know if my harddrive is dead or not. So there you go..

A lot of the info I have on the computer is priceless so they better save all my files. Im still pissed because I dont know what happened..I have a firewall, spyware protection..crazy.
