Sears = un-Strait
ok. get this. I got sent home early today by the boss. the reason.... ultimately it's because I don't smoke.
pretty cool, huh? I was sittin down havin a coffee, and the boss told me to go to his office to have a "little chat" [just prior, i had actually swore in the shop, and there was a customer out there who heard. yea, i know. thats bad. but i didn't realize they were in their.] I told him I will after my "cigarette break." He says i don't smoke, so get in his office. So, i say that he is prejudice against non smokers. If they can stop work once an hour for a cigarette, then i should be entitled to the same priveledge even though i'd rather not suck carcinogens into my lungs. Me and him went back and forth w/ that for a lil bit.... and then he says, "punch out and go home."
usually when a boss says that... you're fired. I went over to HR to b****. I win. i'm not fired.... but what they say i will use in my favor. "state law says you are entitled to 1 15-minute break for every 4 consecutive hours worked." These ppl who smoke have at least 1 an hour. sometimes more.
Sent home because i don't smoke. Sears sucks. i hate them w/ a passion. thank jeebus i may be gettin a new job this week. GRRRRRRRRR

Yeah, I had that issue in the Army. You know what? I did it back to them. I wouldn't let anyone go take cig breaks unless we were afforded the same opportunity.

ya, i totaly feel you about that man, co-workers of mine go out every like hour or so for 10 or 15 minute breaks, without even punching out, its total BS, man, gets me sooo freaking mad, anyway, ya, hope ur new jobs sucks less then this one, lol.

I don't think there is a non-smoker alive that hasn't had this problem. I personally would see it as a characteristic of laziness if I was an employer. But I guess nobody else sees that.

Just go out there and pretend to smoke, have a cigarette but dont light it, if he asks you why you arent smoking just say you had other things on your mind.
