Well for a 275$ stainless steel exhaust, I was pretty happy, easy to install, sounded great, felt good power across the middle to upper rpm band.

except for 6 months later, 19 days after warranty, and about a 3weeks ago in present time, my obx catback blew off.

So note to all those buying the OBX catback, it has nice exterior welds and a great sound, but the welds going into and out of the resonator and possibly muffler are not so nice. They put 2 simple tac(spelling?) welds on the inside where the resonator starts and where it exits.

Im driving about 25, went to hit 2nd gear, and just as I engage the clutch i hear the sound of no muffler. Well that scared the shit out of me cause for about 2 seconds i thought i just dropped my trans out the back of my car.... but then i realized what the excruciatingly loud noise was. Honestly, it sounded pretty sick idling... like a 454 olds or something like that, but when you hit about 4 grand it starts to whine and fart like a B16 civic. kind of embarrassing. .... Had a substantial loss of power in the 1-3k rpm range but felt kinda nice at about 4000-6200.

Would have liked to have dyno'd it for fun but yeah i cant afford a dyno just to get her tuned :D.

So yeah, if you go with an OBX catback, just custom build a bracket with a rubber hanger behind and infront of the resonator because its too wobbly in there and it will help reduce the vibration of the exhaust and hopefully prevent what happened to me.

Hmm, are you sure about the welds?

I've had mine on for 2 years with no problems. Welds looked awsome at every point.

Maybe a manufacture mistake on yours and they forgot to finish the weld. Contact them and let them know. Take pictures.

you dont make interior and exterior welds. the weld along the outside is the weld that is also on the inside.

did your exhaust have the same amount of hangers as stock?

Ive had mine for a bout a year now. No problems except the rear hanger. The 2 metal parts are to close and they touch. Sometimes I get unlucky and theyll tap, but other than that no problems with anyhting else.

No um, I think I explained it wrong. Where the resonated is welded to the pipe in front is fine, but the pipe actually keeps going into the resonator to where there are 2 tac welds. Yes I have the same number of hangers as stock, its just it seems like there was too much vibration going on under there which caused alot of stress at that point. It was an easy fix, I took it down, sanded the ends and the areas around it to prep it for welding, cut the broken part of the resonator weld , then had the pipe welded to the inside of the resonator then the piece of the resonator welded back on at my friends shop. Heres some pix of it tho.

oh, those outer and inner pipes are part of the resonator. that was shotty resonator build if that interior pipe was only tac'ed in two spots. the obx exhaust is just put together and welded with one single(the inner one) pipe coming out of the resonator.

glad you got it fixed though.

isn't obx the same as motoria? or so i've heard. it sucks that the welds were improper and the warranty voided. maybe it was some freak scenario...

if anyone is selling theirs i'm here lol. if you're selling that piping i'm also here. personally i'd suggest getting some more stainless rewelded.
