Our "new" plates, I can't believe how ugly they are:
They're mandatory, and we have to pay an extra $25 for them. It starts in April 2010 and then the next time you register after that date. They're doing it because the state needs to bring in an extra $129 million. greddy2.gif

The current plates are ok looking....blue and white. But these new ones....god...who ever designed them seriously needs to be throat punched. They look old and like something that should be put on a classic retro car....not new.
Nasty yellow and dark blue plates on a bright red car....oh yeah...that'll look great for me. laugh.gif

Do you have to change? NC changed the letter color on our plates but you didnt have to change, you just got the new one if you got a new car, or if your old plate was like 10 years or older.

Yeah...they're making it mandatory. Every new car after April of 2010 has to get the new plates, and anyone who doesnt have them yet, will have to once their registration is up.
