My next-door neighbor has two pit bull terriers. My wife has 3 chihuahuas. Today was the FOURTH time his dogs came into my yard, and the second time they made their own hole in the wooden back yard fencing, this time ALSO through a hog wire fence on his side that was a failed attempt at containment of these large, powerful dogs.
They're nice dogs, really sweet, very compliant when I put a noose on them AGAIN to tie them up. But this is ridiculous. Imma tell him when he comes to get his dogs: I dont care if you have to erect a chainlink fence inside your yard, I don't want to see your dogs again in my yard. Here's a weekend, figure it out before Monday. I'm not a doggy babysitter and I don't think my dogs are as fun and yummy looking as his dogs do, so next time it'll be Animal Control and he can deal with the Police and explain to THEM why he can't keep his dogs locked up.
I would hate to have to blow one of his dogs' brains out if they did manage to get hold of one of mine.

I'm all for stricter penalties for dog owners who don't control their pets. It's just sad that the animals usually end up being the ones punished. Try to tell the neighbor in your best "indoor" voice... "if one of your dogs hurts one of mine, I'll have no choice but to cause bodily harm to your person. I won't want to, but I will have to".

I think making a dog breed illegal is almost as stupid as having a single-payer national health system or banning private gun ownership. Oh wait.
These dogs prove the rule: be sweet to a pit and they'll be sweet to the world. Starve, beat, and fight them and they'll have to be put down when civilization realizes they exist. The dude was REALLY apologetic and he spent a few hours working on fencing inside his yard, so we're probably good for now.

For the record, we have a choice on the healthcare, we can pay to go private and get decent care. Or if you work for a good company, the company pays for it- NHS told me to retire from rugby, private care healed my neck for me instead (sort of, the combined weight of 2 small cars pushing it from either direction at every scrum is still painful).
As for the guns, it means if we have arguments, we use fists, thats why our boxers are better than yours- and why you never give our best guys decent title shots
I agree with the owner thing though, over here English Bull and Staffordshire Bull teriers both have bad reps, my mums has English BTs for years,I've never known more docile dogs. Staffys are more energetic by nature, but still lack aggression- unless caged, starved and beaten.
