That's what I was referring to, I had a 124 spyder as well, fun car. Back on topic: After a little more thought, it would be very simple to install a warning buzzer. You would only need a 12v buzzer and a relay. Connect the relay so it would enigerize while the key was in the run position but leave the normally closed contact unconnected. Connect the normally open contact to ground and the common to the buzzer. Connect the other lead of the buzzer to the headlight lead. That way with the engine on, no warning. Turn off the key, the contact would close, providing the ground to the buzzer. So the buzzer would only sound if the key was off and the headlights were on. I will draw up something this weekend and post if anyone is interested.

My 2001 does the same thing turns the headlights off when you turn the car off, and leaves the parking lights on...

My 97 and 99 turn off the headlights with the key but my old Fiat killed all the lights with the key if the switch was in the headlight position. If you turned the parking lights only on, they would work with the key in either the on or off position.

Here's a quick drawing of how to install a warning buzzer for parking/headlights:

That's what mine does. The headlights actually will turn off, but the parking lights remain on. That diagram looks easy enough, I'll give that a try. Thanks.

What's interesting (and the Fiat I think does the same thing) is that on newer Scoobys all the lights turn off if the car is turned off. In addition, the headlights turn off if the ebrake is pulled. There is a switch to turn the parking lights back on, but I never hit the lights since the day I got my car. THAT would be a great mod to do... never have to worry about anything. Instant day time running lights, instant power saver.
