so i was going to wausau for my grandma's funeral this past weekend. got to stevens point and this guy in a saturn sc2 was tailgating me, so i went a little faster then he almost ran into my ass. i got on the on ramp to the highway, this was a right turn to th highway by the way, he through next to me and tried cutting me off on the on ramp. he came from behind and tried to make a pass! i was in my corolla he almost ran right where my 3 yr old daughter was sitting!!! we both stopped cause he couldn't fit through but i herd a clunk, so i let him go ahead. luckily i had a buddy going up there to that i happened to meet on the highway. he was only a car ahead of me, but the guy in the saturn almost hit him too. he saw what happened and to called right away and said that the guy hit me. i stopped right away when i got on the highway and the guy just drove off! i looked and didn't see any damage but i called the sheriff's right away and they contacted the state patrole. i don't know if they got him or not. i haven't called to check. but i was pissed off like hell. oh yeah, i did get his license plate and gave it to the sheriff's office.

ahh, good ole f***tard tailgaters. when people tailgate me, i slow down to about 5-10 UNDER the speed limit if possible.. i tend to do it less in cars i valued (tib and srt4) but when i had grand am and van, i didn't really care if they ended up hitting me.

I value the Tib and 944 too much to do this, but in the wife's Sunbird I let off the gas until satiated.
However there's a few that still don't get the clue and on deserted roads I've been known to abuse the e-brake. come to a screeching halt (or damn near) w/out break lights and they get the clue very fast.

slowing down to under the limit is one thing, but doing something as idiotic as pulling the e-brake is just plain dumb..

i think you will be the one to get the clue when they end up hitting you at 50mph and you end up as a vegetable. then they don't even get in trouble for it because when they investigate the accident, the realize you slammed on the brakes and caused it.

Trust me when I say this is not by any stretch a regular occurance nor 50mph. Bear in mind I said "deserted roads" we're not talking the corner of 14th and Peachtree. There are few environments where I would even consider this (IE its only happened a handful of times). And yes I am well aware of the possible ramifications.
I never said it was smart, but it puts me in control of the situation break checking and slowing only causes other silliness on their part.
Technically I am in the wrong, but its my form of justice, as corroded as that is.

edit:
Good lord this sounds like I'm encouraging other people to do this.
Disclaimer Don't try this unless you have a really good attorney and lots of downtime to fix you car, and a couple dozen spare bumpers. Seriously, a smart individual wouldn't even dream of this. It is dangerous and just plain foolish. But either way don't EVER let your wife know what you really do with her car. Thats just plain retarded. Back on topic:

Provide ample reaction time, preferable at least 3 seconds between cars, if not the DOT recommended car lengths per speed.

Man, we all get to drive beside idiot drivers!!! It pisses me off also. I don't know how many street-racing accidents I've seen in the news since mid June, just here in Toronto alone!

Early May, I was driving on the highway, and there was this Honda civic hatchback tailgating me so closely that all I could see on the rear-view mirror was his windshield and a bit of his hood. HONESTLY!!!! And I was probably doing 120km/h. If I needed to slam the brakes for some reason, that guy would slide right under me.
