Domestic owners bitching about "real cars"...
as somebody who owns a pair of rear drive sports cars... (light weight too.. just about a ton) I can tell you that is it a riot to drive them in the rain. WHile you need to exercise more caution when driving in rain or snow, it IS quite possible to do so in a safe and quick manner.
High performance cars and rain have been around a LOT longer than front wheel drive and all wheel drive.. it just takes different skills to make them work together. Personally though, I do not care if I owned a Scooby, a mitsu, skyline, or an even the almight Lancia Delta Intergrale.. I would not race around in the rain anyway.. just becuase I have control over my car does not mean that other people have control over theirs.. this is in addition to the loss of visability.
That said.. back to topic.. you can find idiots on both sides of the spectrum. There are those that will claim the american Muscle cars are dinosours and that their small bore fours are better.. and there are the v8 guys who will not even consider sitting in a 4 cylinder car... I have found that if you keep an open attitude, enjoy and even admire what somebody else has done to their car.. they will come around and say a few nice things about your ride. It is all about attitude and respect. You need to give respect to get it...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Dweet)</div><div class='quotemain'>i think a real car dominates all aspect of performance.. with that said the only way to go is a AWD turboed car</div>
W00tness I've got a real car. Not all muscle cars are just straight down the line powerful gas hungry vehicles. I actually get 23MPG in the city in my 1982 Corvette. My Dad only gets 15MPG in a 1969 Nova though, but thats not bad considering its got a 427 in it. tongue.gif

My definition of a real car is a car that doesn't dent when someone leans on it. My 1976 Chevrolet Nova, that was a real car. I kicked that fender as hard as I could (without breaking my foot) and only a small ding appeared on the lower part of the front driver fender. I rear-ended a suburban at 30mph (keep in mind this car weighed about 4500lbs) and I drove home with no problems. I had to replace the passenger headlight bezel and the grill.
I guess it depends on opinion. My opinion is a car that's hard to beat up.

heh.. my fiat spider.. which weighs in at about 2000 pounds... is resistant to damage as well. I nailed a full size buick with my first one when the old guy driving it tried to pull a u turn right infront of me.. I hit hi hard enough right where the door hits the fender that he had to climb out the passenger side and the bodyshop had to replace the A piller on a Brand new car (still had the temp tags) All I need to do was replaced a fender and the light..
