Are you 100% sure you don't need a passport? That doesn't make a lot of sense, how would they know if you are an American citizen? E.g. I live in US, I have an American driver's license, but I do need a Visa to get into Canada (not a US citizen).

This link says you need one also:

Plus even if Canada would let you in, how in the world are you going to enter the US with no passport when you get back?

Birth certificate and drivers license is all you need at the moment. I cross 3-4 times a week for work, I have nexus pass, but when I go over with family, friends, theres no passport required.

I do not have a copy of my birth certificate. The state of North Carolina is currently experiencing up to a 10 week delay in processing requests. I hope my mom still has one.

YES, 100% sure. They had changed the laws a couple years back to require passports, but changed it back earlier this year because too many people were confused about the law and didn't have passports. As I said 10 times already, you DONT need a passport to cross the border until JANUARY 2009. In your case though, radu, you may have a problem. What's your status in the US? If you've got a green card, then they will want to see that, and they might wanna see your passport from your birth country as well.

Also, as far as the birth certificate goes. I crossed the border several times before the passport was ever required, and was never asked to show my birth certificate, only my driver's license. So, unless you appear to not be who you are on your license, or you come across as being suspicious, they don't ask for it.

The thing with the border is, they do stereotype. I drove up with my friend for Hyundai Sunday 2005, and he looked like a complete drug addict. Tattoos, dreadlocks, piercings. So of course they stopped him and searched his car. But they didn't find anything, because he doesn't do drugs or sell drugs.

Just be honest and straightforward when you're crossing the border. Don't give them a reason to think you may be up to something. There's a whole list of reasons I could go through that they would stop you for. But a simple 3 day trip for a car show shouldn't be one of them.

my mom still has mine. You can put me down as a definitive now. Just give me a small spot on the floor to sleep.

There is a local brewery http://www.churchbrew.com/ Church Brew Works. Im bringing up a sample case they sell. Its a brewery in a converted church. 3 story ceilings. Very unique.

Very cool. Adding to the list. Also, it looks like we will be moving into the new apt, so should have no problems with that.

Last time I spoke to him he said he was planning on coming. But he didn't say 100% yes so I didn't wanna add him to definites until he said so.
