Hey guys, It's 0200 right now and I'm taking a break from studying all night on Psychology. My heart is beating fast because I just drank my 4th redbull. I just read something in my Psychology book that the professor didn't explain in class.
We have four stages of sleep. We also have an REM(Eye Movement, the time when we dream). Stage 4 is the deep sleep and that last maybe 30 minutes. AFter 30 minutes, we get into REM sleep cycle (which is between Stage 2 and 3). Stage 4 Deep Sleep is when our body is totally relaxed and our blood pressure is low. During REM, our muscles are very very relaxed, but our blood flow increase. This is why we have boners when we wake up.

But the problem is you've got to get to stage 4. Some get there faster than others and some just won't get there without 8 hours of sleep. Seeing that i just woke up and i've got mornng wood, i guess i got there alright last night!

It's funny because I know that my stage 4 occurs between 4 and 5 am everyday. As long as I get that 1 hour of sleep during that time period, I can function throughout the entire day without issues regardless of how many hours come before or after. If it don't get it, then I can't get out of my own way even if I got 8 hours before. My body runs like a clock which is both a good thing and a bad one.
