I was planning on buying these 17'' Gunmetal Motegi MR7's but not sure if they will fit on my 99 RD1 because of the tires on them. The offset for the rims are +40mm and they have brand new Toyo Proxes EZ4 215/40ZR17 tires on them. I know that 205/40/17s will fit on the RD1 with non captive rotors but I'm not sure about 215s with the 40mm offset. Let me know so I don't buy some rims that won't fit or rub and I have stock suspension, which will probably help.

you will need spacers because your car has a captive brake set up. tires should fit unless your dropped. if your dropped, they definitly wont fit. my 205/40/17's rub left and right with my drop.

So since I have non captive rotors and my car isn't dropped at all, 215/40/17s will fit????

I have exactly those same spec tyres & rims. Only had them a couple of days but so far no rubbing... bar a slight scrape when I drove up onto a steep driveway.

I also have roughly a 35mm drop.

You won't rub.
