I'm looking to get a set of lightweight rims for my tibby. Anyone know a website that sells lightweight rims or any companies that offer them.
I want forged wheels not cast.
I'm looking at 16's possibly 17's but most likely i'll be sticking with the 16's.
thanks

Rotas are the cheapest and lightest. But if you want a quality rim, you're gonna pay a LOT. Basically, just search for an expensive rim. Most likely it'll be lightweight.

If you want a cheap, good looking, light, and strong rim... I have to plug Enkei. I know they are cast, but they have a special casting proceedure that is much stronger. They spin the mold at a high rate of speed to even out the metal. I can also tell you they are strong. I clobbered a kerb on a rainy night head on, spun the car around, knocked my steering way out of whack and makes my car have a need for a camber compensator... I bent the very edge of the rim.

I hit the kerb about about 30mph trying to beat a light, and I am still running it.. it has never lost a psi of air.

I've looked into this extensively. Your lightest 16's & 17's will be Volk TE37, Volk CE28N, Buddy Club P1 Racing QF, and Mugen MF8's. All are forged, the 16" versions are 11-12 lbs. All of them will run around $1500 shipped new. Good luck finding them used in our bolt pattern (I've been searching for months!). Also, the Desmond Regamaster evo's are forged and the same weight, I know a few people selling them used for around $1000 shipped.

Rota's are pretty light, not forged though, so not as light as the Volk's, Buddy Club's, or Mugen's. I'm pretty sure all of Rota's rims are knockoffs of the above.

If you don't care for looks too much and money is an issue, I'd get the Regamaster evo's. If money is tight, get some Rota's. If you want the best, get the Volk's, Buddy Club's, or Mugen's.

Also, if you order new, most companies won't have our bolt pattern in stock, so it'll take ~3 months to get em.

Let me know and I can point you towards a few companies I've contacted and their prices.

What is a good 'lightweight' weight?
16lbs?
