So, I need a replacement on my front driver's side. I call up 2 dealerships and both give me quotes right at $300. WTF??? Now, that's parts included so $220 just for labor and such. Is this right. I already know I should go to autozone and get one from them and have it installed. I was just thinking that I could have sworn someone posted it was only $150 for them do a front one on their car. Will pep boys or sears be able to do and do it any cheaper?

Local shop here quoted me just under 200 with the price of the bearing... the dealership has outragious hourly wages. Best you find a local shop you can trust.

Problem is... I don't have a local shop that I trust. Got any suggestions on semireputable chain stores? Maybe Sears or pepboys? Vegas isn't known for having trustworthy people. We get all the scum from Cali move here.

Dealership quoted me at around $175 for the wheel bearing. Personally, I say f*** the OEM wheel bearings, and get the aftermarket ones at Autozone. I would have taken that route, but Autozone told me that they didn't have those in stock. bs2.gif
$15 > $150+

Find a local machine shop or auto shop willing to press the bearings in for you. Shouldn't be more than $50 per ($100 total), but most should do it for $20.
The bearings from autozone last just as long as the OEM bearings, so you might as well save the $$$ and get those.

bearing from auto zone is about 5-10 bux
machine shop will press it in for about 15-25 bux
do it yourself... and your looking at a job under 50
Have a mechanic do it... except YOU buy the part..
