Hi guys,

My next mod will probably be some 17"x7" rims. Most manufacturers recommend 205/40/17" tires to go with them.
I was wondering if 215/35/17" wouldn't be better? Only problem is that the 215 would go better on 7.5" rims and the ones I like are only available in 7" for 4x114,3 PCD.

By the way, 215/35 has less diameter diff from stock (-0.66% vs. +1.63% for the 205/40)

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Ride quality will be better with the 40s. A lot better. But the other ones will be a tad bit wider still. And 35s do look cool. I have 45s on my 17s though and love them

I have 215/45/17 on my 7.5" wide wheels.

The more rim protection the better. I prefer ride quality, so I like the thicker tire.

Yeah, the 215 would look nicer and perform better on 7,5" rims... but my choice will be either the OZ ultraleggera graphit or the Tenzo R DC5 V2 in black. And those models only have 17x7" for 4x114,3 PCD.

But I guess it's ok to use 215 with 7" rims...

By the way majik...did you have any rubbing problems with the 7,5"? Did you have to cut anything to fit them?

i have 215/45/17 on my 7" rims right now and they aren't too wide for the tire but they do rub on the front if you hit the slightest hill at speed. it ok now though it just took a little "persuasion" with a rubber mallet to move the bottom of the fenders up. it's all good now but i'm going with 215/40/17 for looks and the ability to turn fast again( it's really hilly where i live)
