i wanna run a 225/50/15 tire (i know this sounds rather noob....sorry) and dont wanna rub

its gonna be a hard task i know

what do you think i can do to allow that

ive thought about cutting off the flares that are on the volkswagen passat i think it is and molding it in but im unsure as to how that would look

i know coilovers will allow a wider tire cuz you dont have such a wide suspension body like struts do

any ideas?

I'm running 205 50 KDW2s on 17's. My bad!!! 50 series is a little too big with 17's. Required some trimming of the fender guard and some "persuasion" on the fender lips with a rubber mallet. Minimal rubbing. Fender flares would be the way to go if I weren't so damn cheap.

That's what I'm sayin'. You should be good with a 50 series on 15s even at 225. Stockers were 50's and then don't even come close to the fender (I know, only 195's but still). I depends on the tire too. Even though the shop where I got the tires from said there wouldn't be much diff. between the 40 and 50. The difference between a 40series Yoko and a 50 series KDW are literally huge.

Just putting wider tyres won't necessarily mean more grip. If they are just cheaper hard-compound tyres, they won't do any good at all.

Also, I once read that something about the contact patch of the tire being affected primarily by load & psi... Not so much by it's tread width.

Not sure why that was but it made sense to me at the time. I'll see if I can find the article.
