Default Tire Pressure

I just got a new set of rims and tires, and I was wondering how much air pressure I should have in the tires. They're Kumho 711 205/40/17's. They came with like 38 or so PSI in them. Is that about the correct amount?

different tires need different psi. i know my 205/40/17's need 50 psi which is really high. just do what i did, call the place that installed your tires and ask them, i figured it was 35 but they seemed overly soft so i called.

I did call the place I ordered the rims and tires from. The guy there didn't really know what he was talking about. He said they needed anywhere between 32 and 40 psi. What kind of tires are on your rims?

Does it not say on the sidewall of the tire what the recommended maximum inflation pressure is? It's usually there... you may need a magnifying glass, though as it can be hard to find.

Yeah, it's got the max air pressure on there. I think it's like 44 psi or something. But you're not supposed to run them at full pressure I didn't think.

on the inside of the driver door, hyundai has a label that tells you what pressure to have the tires at certain weight loads. however, those are for stock tires. it says to have 30psi on the stocks, but like monoxide said, he had 35 and they seemed soft. i would check around. like just run by firestone and ask one of the guys to look at your tires and tell you if they look low. i mean, it's not an exact science, but if the guy knows his s**t, he should be able to give you some insight.
