You have 45 profile tires so it's a little different for you. Your pressure is about right, maybe should be just a bit lower and he shouldn't be over 35psi with 40profile tires.

generally, I would not vary too far from stock pressures.. even with wider low profile tyres. Too much pressure and you will wear out the centre of the tread.. though, I do know a lot of european car makers recommend upping your pressures for extended highspeed use.

Currently I run on 17's on 205/40R17 tires. I have them all at 33PSI but it seems a tad low. What PSI do you all run on your tires?

Have you guys ever thought to READ the TIRE?
It gives you a max pressure, just stay somewhere around that, but not too close so that your tires aren't rocks. I usually stay 5~10 psi under the max.

Just because the tire can handle 44psi does not mean you should run it... general rule of thumb is to start with what the manufactorer of the car says for the stock tyres... and add or lower from there for best handling.

LoL max pressure is 40, and no way would I run it on 40 PSI.

I filled it up a tad higher.. 34 all around, and the car runs SO much smoother! Handles better as well!

max pressure doesn't mean best handling.

Best will be something close to manufacture recommended pressure.

I use 2.2 bar all around.

I have 205/40/17 with a max pressure rating of 44psi. I run 42 psi as I like nice stiff handling. I asked my buddy who builds and sets up race cars ( he used to be the crew chief for the race team on the tv show "dream car garage" on speed channel but has since moved out on his own) if this was to much and he said no. So thats where she's stayin' for me smile.gif

Low tire pressure is better for drag because a bigger contact patch, higher than normal is better 4 autox because of the sidewall tring to roll under
