Default Is there a special logic to caliper placement

What logic is behind caliper placement? I have seen them at noon, 1, 2 ,3 ect almost everything except 6 o'clock.

iirc its a way to prevent nose diving

on a challenger (new ones) the front is at like 10 oclock and the rears are like 4 oclock

in the event of a panic stop that setup should help with it diving
