Default Stripping wheel paint

I painted my rims bronze with wheel paint and I want to strip it off and go with gunmetal. Will any paint stripper will work or do I need to use a certain type of certain strength? I saw theres aircraft paint remover. Would that be the strongest you can get? I also some strippers have acid in them that dissolves the paint. Anything with acid wont hurt the rims will it?

If you remember what paint you used, find out what the manufacturer recommends for stripping that particular paint. Acid will cause rust on steel if you don't paint it immediately, and it will etch aluminum also.

why not just give it a good sanding and paint on top of it.. if the original job was done well and you rough up the surface well enough you can paint right on top and be good to go.
