Stopping wheel hopping???
I was watching Shade Tree Mechanics on TNN a while back. They were upgrading the rear suspension on an old mucscle car to eliminate wheel hop during hard acceleration from a stopped position.
Driving my Elantra, I find that sometimes if I'm a little too hard on the gas in first gear I have the same problem. I know that the suspension compared to both vehicles is probably like comparing apples and oranges, but I was wondering if there are any similar products available for FWD cars. Who knows some day I might be next to a CIVIC, and I'll lose our little 'competition' because of a simple loss of traction since my wheels spent half their time, spinning in the air... rolleyes.gif

The easiest way to avoid wheel hop is to simply press down on the accelerator pedal a tad slower. A less throttle and the wheels will grip and the car will accelerate. More throttle produces 100% wheel spin. "wheel hop" is that grey area inbetween.
Harder bushings will often stop wheel hop, as will making sure the engine is aligned properly between the wheels.
www.allpar.com is a good site for FWD tech... the suspensions aren't exactly the same (especially the rear... FWD mopars used a beam axle) but their close enough to take some pointers from them.
They have people who have been racing FWD since the mid eighties... don't discount their info just because it's another manufacturer.

i used these rubber inserts that go between the coils (bought em at pep boys) also helps to stiffen your suspension a little bit
(i believe theyre used for trucks and stuff like that)
