ok Techs, here something to chew on.

so im on napaonline looking at teh specs on wheel bolts, and they list a front and a rear

why ??
whats the deal with that ? possibly for rear drums ?? i listed the car as a 2000 hyundai so why 2 different parts ?

are the hubs a different thickness ?

it would seem by the numbers that maybe the rear hub is thicker !!

im looking getting some ARP wheel bolts

part number 7717 35 bux for 5 on summit racing or 142 on ebay for 20

but for cheaper i coud get ARP part number 7721 these are 27 bux for 5 on summit racing

i did the conversions from mm to inches as the ARP specs are in inches

this is some conversation i had with 01steve on the matter:

QUOTE
the arp 7717 for the evo are 3 inches !! i think thats too much, so im looking at arp part number 7721, , if you are for sure that the evo ones work than that would mean that the knurl depth is 0.565 and the length is 0.270, those are the specs on the evo arp lugs.

so the 27 dollar set, part number 7721, has a depth of 0.585 and length of 0.225, i think those would work as they are a little thicker, but they should "mash" in, they are only 2 hundredths thicker. of course they are the same thread, but the key thing is they are shorter, only 2.4 inches long, vice the evo's 3 inches

stock specs as per NAPA

FRONT

Item#: BK 6411623

Attributes:
Head Marking:276
Knurl Diameter:14.30mm = .563
Overall Length:35.5mm = 1.397
Shoulder Length:6.5mm = 0.255
Thread Size:M12-1.5
Thread Type:Right Hand

REAR

Item#: BK 6412197

Attributes:
Head Marking:340
Knurl Diameter:13.08mm = 0.515
Overall Length:42mm = 1.653
Shoulder Length:12.5mm = 0.492
Thread Size:M12-1.5

stock are heat treated and hold over 600whp our shops drag car and speeds well over 323Kph or 187mph. i dont see any real reson to do this unless you are useing a strange rim size. all the korean Pro race teams use oem.. I myself have never heard of one breaking unless you over torque them

and yes there is a diff in size due to the fact of the drum brakes Vs disk...

We want the ARP ones because we have issues with the OEM ones snapping when removing the lugs.

I've had to replace 3 in the past year.

arp arp lugs? do they even make them?

as long as the lug nuts arent cross-threaded on, or super torqued (stock specs are 80ft. lbs), then you shouldnt have any problems with snapping lugs.

i know the thread pitch is 12x1.5

i had planned on getting some slightly longer ones than stock for whenever i get some wheel spacers.

That's the thing. I get my tires done at Discount Tire and they put them on with a torque wrench. I've watched them do it. I STILL have had 2 snapped off after I've watched them do it correctly.

The OEM studs seem to corrode a bit, so now I clean them with a wire brush every time I take off my wheels.

^,^ Thats very strange i have never broke any. or stripped any out sincei have had mine 33.gif.. It seem the only time i have ever seen one sheer off is when a Air impac gun is used.. mmmm..If thats the case.. i can see you logic.. make a stick when the correct ARP studs for the F/R are comfermed for both setups.. meaning F/disks and R/disks and or Drums....
