Default Starting to get frustrated...

I've had my Konig Reigns and Nitto 450 tires since the start of February. Tonight I just took off the third flat I've had since getting these.

Flat One happened about a month after getting these on. I hit a mega-pothole and bent my rim. Sucks, but I got over it. I still have the rim, it was very obviously bent. I hold onto it in the event that I have enough money to blow on getting it repaired, something that I hear is quite spendy for aluminum alloy rims. This was the driver's side front.

Flat Two is a mystery. Discount Tire said there was probably a pinhole leak somewhere...I was paranoid I had bent ANOTHER rim, but they said it seemed to be okay. This was late May. It was the passenger's side front. The tires were rotated when the new one was put on, and this rim was moved to passenger's side rear.

Flat Three is also currently unsolved. The rim doesn't LOOK bent, but again, I am overly paranoid. There looks like there might be a MINOR flat area along the lip on the inner side, but this could just be the way the tire is incompletely on the rim. I dunno yet. It's probably nothing. This is the driver's side front again.

I put about six months of research into these rims and tires. I read little to no negative reviews about the quality or sturdiness of either item. But I'm starting to feel a little snowjobbed on these rims, here. Are the Reigns made of crap metal? Are Konig rims in general soft or low quality? I don't think that I'm being overly harsh on these rims...I haven't hopped any curbs, and I'm quite wary of potholes, after Flat One. I haven't been in any accidents since I've had the rims. Is this just the way things are for people with 17" rims and 40-profile tires? I bought these rims and tires because I wanted something wider and grippier than stock. They've served well in that department, but this replacement aspect is killing me!

What's going wrong here? sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

Hyundaijvx and I think it's because you didn't come to the meet sunday. j/k I had the same problems with the wheels on my truck but I think it was caused for them mounting them. But it always got little bends in them so I would use a dead blow hammer and knock it back down again and be on my happy little way. But you may want to write the maker of the wheel just to ask to might have been a bad batch of wheels. I have seen wheels that look straight but when your going down the road the wheel will vibrate alot. Because it was balanced right at the company. Just my .02.

I know how you feel. I just had my rims for two months and one night in bad rain I hit a monster pothole. Front two rims got bent to hell and back. I was so mad...you couldnt see any real damage till they were off the tire. Anyway...I had them balanced as best they could and put them in the rear of the car and put the two backs up front so the vibration would not be as bad. I ordered two more rims on a Friday and were at my doorstep Monday morning. I was cautious before but now i'm gonna go just 2mph..LOL j/k
I don't know what it is....I have Fondmetal 6500's with 205/40's...I kind of wished that I got some 45's..but that would have made the overall wheel diameter too much. Either that or since my rims are 7.5's I wonder if 215's would provide more protection. Whatever it is...its the price we have to pay for the larger wheels.

By the way...my two bent rims are sitting in my garage..and I too am thiking of having them fixed if the price is right...they will never be the same..but might be worth lookin into.

Since mine are showing the scars of daily driving...I figure I'll get them fixed and just keep them in the street-use rotation (the bent rim, God forbid, rims). I'm probably also going to keep on-hand a spare Nitto 450. I have no idea why, but these things seem to be VERY scarce in the area. Discount Tire seems to almost ALWAYS have to find a warehouse outside of the metroplex to get me these tires, or order from Nitto directly. Very strange.

If I ever decide to show, I'll pick up some good-looking new ones, and keep those pristine and just for show. When I start racing, I'll probably pick up some cheap steelies, or some really STRONG and LIGHT ones, if I can find any that will hold up to rally well enough.

Regardless, my car goes in tomorrow morning to get fixed up.
