UPDATE!!!!

Aug 25th 2008

well i went to actually put on my 5-lug because i blew a tire on friday night and i didnt want to deal with changing it. so i sit down last night after work to try and start the 5-lug only to find more diffrences in the spindles..... mad.gif

mad.gif the GK rear hubs have a LARGER race/bearing and WILL NOT, I REPEAT WILL NOT bolt to our back RD spindles. mad.gif they are just to big to sit on there

so after gettting it back together this morning i'm going to go and get a tire then run to the yard and see if they have rear spindles still on their GK's but i figured i would update this so other people dont get into the same issues i was having. it sucks to be a pioneer; others have done this swap but no-one will tell us what they had to do. so i guess i'm going to have to be the guy to suck it up and figure it out so everyone can rock out the 5-lug if they want.

my running total including my XG350 rims is $800 + what ever i have to spend on rear spindles today.

oh yea, i forgot to get lug-nuts so thats another $25 bucks

damn yard dosent open till friday (weird hours) so i just ordered some online and they should be here thursday so next week when i get my schedule for work i'll try this again. i just hope the entire rear spindle will just bolt on, if not i'll have to take these to machine shop and have em chop off the spindles and weld em to my RD knuckles. that seems like something that would be possible so i'll have to go over and ask them if they could get that done for me.

the saga continues............

OHHH YEA!! decided that due to my work screwin me on hours i'm going to save the powder coat money and just buy a daily driver. going to look at a 5spd 92 accord tommarow so hopefully i can get into that for winter and maybe get these coated during holiday season. my main goal is to get out of paying 400 a month for my car (200payment +200insurance) so i CAN do more stuff.

damn $200 a month for insurance!! I pay $40/month on full coverage for my tib, thats outrageous, even if it was for both cars thats still a ton!

im willing to bet the insurance policy is in your parents name if your paying 40$ a month. specially since your like 16.

that really sucks about the 5 lug not working like it was supposed to be just bolt on/swap. that makes it what, the second 'myth' for a direct swap..

the XD shifter direct swap was a fail, and now the hub swap is a fail also.

at least you rd guys can swap to bigger brakes. i wanted to swap to the new caliber SRT4 brakes (13" rotors, bigger calipers) but they went from a 5x100 lug pattern to 5x114.3

^^that sucks bro maybe you could swap in the whole knuckle assyblys like i am?? thats shitty they couldnt leave well enough alone, but going to 5x114 is best because most cars now have that bolt pattern

There are ways to make that fit. 100 % swap no but if you can tap 2 holes it works.

yeah, i know, thats why i said DIRECT swap.. not many people are going to wanna go through changing the cables and all that, and then have to tap some holes..

also, tapping the holes through sheet metal wouldn't do much for stability. the stock holes probably have the 'welded nut' on the bottom. it would eventually get loosened up and fail i think.
