Hey
Just wondering what coilover setup you guys would recommend....
I think the Ksport system looks pretty good but wanted some input on them ..
Is it worth the money and what series would you recommend(DRIFT etc)
Thanks cool.gif

Ksport may have nice looking stuff, but as I've said in t he past (search), they are not nice people. When asking them at a Nopi show about the hydraulic Ebrake (specifically how to install it), they said to just get the ebrake cables and stick them in the openings for the hydraulic lines...

After asking them about the issues that went on here with their GB through the now defunct PhantomHP, they told me specifically to "f*** OFF".

There have been some complaints here about their quality of parts, and a LOT more on other sites. I've posted links in the past to some of these.

NEX are great coilovers all around from what i have heard. the only downside is that they are not adjustable as far as dampening goes, just in height.

ksports are 'decent' coilovers, but are made in china, same with megan racing (same as ksport, rebadged)

according to a bunch of people around varius communities, ksports have a significant fail rate as far as leaking and they always have issues with customer service. and the only reason anyone buys them in the srt community is because they are cheap, not the best.

but you rd guys don't really have many choices, other than the ksports as far as extremly asjustable dampening. i believe ark has some coilovers, BUT who knows what brand actually makes them. they seem branded as some distributor or something.

i believe ksport is also offering some coilovers now, but they are only height adjustable like the NEX. (from what i remember)

I guess you don't read still?

Some folks here have had some bad luck, yes, but what I said is I posted links to OTHER SITES where folks were having MAJOR TROUBLE with Ksports stuff.

There are plenty of options out there, but only some are available in the US right now. Mad John, as I said, would be able to direct you more towards a good brand and price. I've posted a few over the past year, I believe one company that made them was called D2.

I can think of about 4 or 6 of them out there.

There's a BUNCH, and not one set is duplicated in ALL of those links man. So you just need some opinons now on how those all run quality wise. Some is posted here.

rob, what are you looking for in a coilover anyway?

just better handing then stock with height adjustment?

or are you wanting a full coilover for racing on the track that has a ton of dempening adjustability?

I have the ksport pro's and they're great. I had the leaky cylinder but it was there old model cylinders, so I called them, showed them pics (mind you these were way out of warranty range) and they offered a set of there newly engineered cylinders to me at 50% off even tho I was way out of warranty with them. These new cylinders are much better than there older models that after about a year would start to leak.

And whats the point in spending all that money on coilovers when you can adjust dampening? Thats the only adjustment I use, lol. Height I haven't touched since its been set.

well with like the NEX coilovers, they are only like 650 shipped, and you can get them in 1 of 3 preset settings (SS1, SS2, SS3) which goes from a street upgrade to street/track to pretty much track racing. they aren't adjustable but you can order them preset to whatever type of driving you will be doing most of.

and being 500-600$ less than a true fully adjustable coilover is a pretty good incentive for most people.

the NEX is also a direct replacement as opposed to needing to buy struts/springs for the car and not have any adjustability if you want to go lower.

i have been thinking about this a lot lately as I really need to replace my whole suspension system including my mounts.

I was thinking the NEX coilovers would be great because I'm getting coilovers and I won't need to buy spings, struts and mounts seperately. For about $650-750 these are much cheaper then your average coilover but is it really worth the extra couple hundred bucks over the typical spring and strut combos that many of us go with? I was all for getting the Nex Coilovers for my own car but knowing that they are only height adjustable and not dampening adjustable makes me think twice about getting them.

Lets say you have your four basic choices in suspension:

Stock
Stiffer/Lowered (Lowest Level Upgrade)
Nex Coilovers or AGX Struts with Socks (Medium Level Upgrade)
Height Adjustable and Dampening Adjustable Coilovers (Maximum Upgrade)

What I'm getting at is most people want to save money but get something better then the typical spring and strut upgrades but they don't want to spend $1000 or more for coilovers.

So what do you guys think is a better setup out of the Medium Level Upgrade options? Agx struts and eibach (or other brand) springs or just NEX Coilovers?

Time to chime in if you have either set up.
