Default Shaving down brake caliper for clearance reasons.

I know the general thing to do is to get spacers when you have clearance issues with rims, but if its only like a millimeter, what harm can be done by shaving the calipers down that tiny bit?

If it's only a millimeter, you can't find 1mm thick steel and a drill press?
