rim protection ridge?
gonna order some new tires for some new 17's... (The enkei rims from my .o2 post a while ago had to go back, i'll explain that story after all the red tape is put to rest...) and i really should get some all-season tires (i'm moving south soon out of NY, but i may see some snow before i get outta here). I saw that WhalenTire (where i'm getting the wheels too) had some Falken ZE512's for a decent price, but they advertise a Rim Protection Ridge on them... what is this ridge, and does it look stupid? The tire looks the same in the pic as other tires... but uh, i dunno. a hasty reply would be very much appreciated! thanks
It's the way the tire is designed. The lip of the tire extends farther out than the edge of the wheel. So you don't curbcheck your wheels when parallel parking like I have on ocassion. It's a damn good idea. It will save the aggrivation of scraped wheels.

Is that something that alot of the majority aftermarket wheels offer or is it luck of the draw? I didn't know about that stuff either, How Handy.. good ?
Fo shizzle. Is that something that alot of the majority aftermarket wheels offer or is it luck of the draw? I didn't know about that stuff either, How Handy.. good ?

A lot more tire manufacturers are going to start offering tires like that.
You know how hard it is to parallel park with a set of nice a$$ 17s that you don't wanna scrape?
well it's still possible to do it. they are they for the slower speed scraps like parell parking and **** like that. it don't cost anymore and it don't look stupid so i'd get them. my new yoks have them so it ain't no thing.
I used to have the falken 205/55ze502's and they were a great tire. The only thing I didnt like about them was the edges were squared off Instead of rounded which caught my inner fender alot. After about a year I upgraded to falken ze512's. That was one of the wisest choices I have ever made. The tires stick to the road like they were made of glue. I reccommend the 512's, very agressive tread design as well-enjoy!
