as most of you know, about a month or so ago my bearing went out on my car and caused me to wreck my tibby. small description, drivers front bearing goes bad... cody drives 65 mph on highway... vibrates his 17 inch Konig Rhythm's lug nuts somewhat loose and the wheel gets ripped off and thrown down the highway about 300 yards.

ok here is my question. so the holes were eaten out a bit when the wheel was ripped off... as in they are larger than they should be, but not much. but i am scared to just throw them on without asking anyone and have 2500 dollars worth of damage done to my car yet again ya kno. so can these be repaired fairly cheap or is it not usable again or what should i do... i was thinking about a larger lug nut or something but i dunno. any advice would be extremely helpful for me. no the rim isnt bent either... its all fine except for the holes.

Should be fine mate. My shop had to hack away at one of my wheel nuts a little while ago when the stud came loose. The fugger wouldn't come off so they had to cut it off before replacing the stud. Looks a mess with the hub-cap off... plenty of metal gone but they were still able to balance the wheel just fine. I've had no issues with it since then.

You should be okay as long as the holes aren't too much bigger than what they used to be.

That or you could "try" and find someone who is a GOD at welding on aluminum (which is doubtful since welding will warp the wheel for sure!)

So you pretty much have one option here, ... put the rims on and cross your fingers.
If your hub is okay I wouldn't worry too much.

personally, I wouldn't use the rim. I would try and find a replacement. Spending a couple hundred for a new one is MUCH better than taking the chance at another couple thousand in repairs at minimum. Maybe I am just paranoid. but what if that damaged rim decides to part company with your car on the highway while passing a Semi-truck? Or near an overpass? What about next to a minivan full of kids? It's not worth the chance.

^ That's a bit dramatic isn't it? I think if you torque the nuts properly you should be right. I can't see why the wheel would fall off otherwise.

In F1 they only use when (big) lugnut.

They hub is for centering the rim and you use the nuts to hold the wheel down. Don't try this at home but you can drive fine with only 2 nuts on (crossside nuts that is). If you got 4 nuts tightend come on there's almost no change of your wheel comming off is there. Just make sure you check the nuts every so what miles. You usually should but now just pay some more attention.

well... the problem we are dealing with.. we need pics. What one person says is a small change to the lug holes could be a small gouge or it could be a HUGE hole.

Personally, as there are only four small bolts holding any wheel on.. I would get a new rim.

working w/ rims/tires for 3 years, i would also recommend replacing the rim.

the whole is bigger than it should, meaning its been weakened. its (the rim) is not as strong as it once was.... i just wouldn't fvck around.

my opinion

Sorry bro, I know you didn't want to hear this, but you either need a new rim, or a really good rim job.

...

You knew it was coming.
