Default Ride Quality

I have reacently bought a 1999 Tiburon FX. One of the things I noticed it that the car seems to bounce back and forth a little. By that I mean it goes from left to right kind of swaying. Especialy on the highway. I had a celica GT before this and the ride was definitly alot nicer. Sometimes my stomic starts to feel sick from the bouncing. We had the dealier check the struts. He said that they were fine but you never know if they even checked tham. Is this the typical ride quality I should expect from a Tiburon?

let me say one thing
- Don't trust the dealers!!!

I've taken my car in for so many things, they claim to fix it or they claimed it was because of my aftermarket stuff so they wouldnt fix it when it clearly wasnt.

I dont know a whole lot but my b/f taught me to check the struts is get out and bounce the back of the car once, if it keeps bouncing their blown, lol. It's very technical smile.gif

my tib's suspension is very tight, always has been. it could also be the ball joints as well as the struts.

Sounds like you need an wheel allighnment, it may go down the road straight but your wheels my be towed out and when you hit a slight bump or uneven spot on the road it will either pull left or right, does it seem worse on certain roads than others or at differant speeds, if so get an allighnment.

No it's not typical.
And from hearing about 100000k's on your car and the tranny going.
I DON'T trust the dealer you got it from
The OEM struts and spings are probably shot
Also check you tire pressure. 30PSI's all around is recommended. As well check for abnormal tire wear. Not sure what kinda tires you have.
Also make sure everything is tight.

On an off note, if you need spring and struts check out the flyride section

my car does the same thing .. i recently had my whole front end and suspension torn apart, replaced bearing and cv joint, greased all boots ... everything seemed fine. i thought it was common i guess. it's really a very subtle sway, it's almost like a wind gust, or what it feels like when ur behind a semi sort of?
edit: your problem sounds more severe if you get a sick stomach from it, mine's very subtle..but still noticable+annoying.
30 PSI!? my kumho's say 50..

BTW, DO NOT GO BY WHAT'S ON THE TIRE!!!
They are max pressures
You should go by factory recommends, if they are 15's (located on door jam)
No wonder you sway all over the place. The tires are WAY over inflated, they've "crested" and if you check, you're probably getting more tire wear in the middle.
When I autoX, my fronts are at like 45-46psi, and my rears are around 39psi. Well that's what works for me.
ANd this is so that the rear end is a little more squirelly,... you want that rear to swing around when you WANT it to swing around.
