I have a strong suspicion I have at least one failing (growling) wheel bearing up front. The rears are supposed to be cake, but I haven't had the front end that far apart yet. I guess I can't complain about the original bearings having lasted 182k miles but I CAN complain about not having a press in the garage.
182k miles makes me wish I could have another magical set just like these. I'd love to not have to do this again.

I paid a local shop just $30 total to press out my old ones and press in the fresh bearings. I had to replace the knuckle anyway, but removing them wasn't a huge deal. Just snatch them out and find someone locally to do the pressing. No need to pay someone else tons of money to do the bits you can do easily. Especially considering they'll just sit on the car for a week.
It really isn't as difficult as everyone makes it out to be, the hardest part is getting th snap ring out, which being in Texas I'm sure will be no problem. and it's only expensive if you have a shop do the job from start to finish
Just take the knuckle out at home and bring it to a shop if you don't have a press, they'll have it in and out in 20 mins if they know what their doing. I'd recommend using a timken brand bearing if you do proceed with the replacement.
