Replacing Front Rotors.

Vehicle: SRT4/Neon SOHC
Im going to be replacing the front rotors on my GFs tib (RD1) in a few days and I was just wondering if anyone could give me some instructions. I have never done this but I suspect it wont be too hard. Anyone wanna tell me anything I should know?

Youll need to take off the caliper and then beat the hell out of the rotors from the inside until they come off, since you live in ontario so im assuming the car is winter driven so the salt nearly rust welds the rotors on there, have fun fing02.gif

Beyond what Alex said, I suggest renting a 3 ton puller from your auto parts store, and hooking it up to an impact wrench. After 2 full days of smacking the inside of my rotor with a 3 lb. sledge, mine still wouldn't come off (except in many, many small pieces).

ya i had th same deal, at first i was afraid of breaking something so i was hitting it with a rubber mallet, didnt get anywhere so i ened up going at it with a sledge, after a few hours i finnaly got it off

I used penetrating lubricant around the cracks, let it sit for awhile, then I placed a foot of 2x4 behind the rotor and hit it with a small sledge. It came off after a few good hits, and no damage to the rotors fing02.gif

This sort of goes along with this topic:
I'm having trouble with my front right caliper... I can't get it off the rotor. I need to replace a stud and have tried a few times but the caliper will not come off. I dont want to ruin the pads because they aren't even half way used, So I have refrained from going at it with a screw driver(in the little window). Anyone have any ideas on getting it off and keeping the pads good?

^^^put the wrench on the caliper bolts that hold the caliper to the caliper bracket. smack it with a wrench. penetrating spray always helps too.
whiplash, my guess is that you are in for a chore. i dremeled and smacked on my rotors until they came off in little pieces. i think you will have to as well. good luck.

HERE IS AN AMAZING TIP!!!!!!
Remove the screws on the face of the hub (Between the bolts), and screw in some bolts of the same diameter only longer. Now tighten them until the face of the rotor breaks into pieces. You should now be able to get the rest of the rotor of without having to hammer it too hard.
Beating it with a hammer could cause a lot of damage.
