Default Ramdom HELP!!! Rim problems....

I'm trying to get some rims, but it's really hard to find rims that will fit on the 2000 Tiburons.
They said something like Hyundai's will have a caliper fitment problem.
What is this caliper fitment?
Is there a way to get around it?
Someone please help.
Thank you.

There should be NO caliper issues with 1999+ tiburons, expecially with 15" or larger wheels. The companies you are talking to are smoking crack and refering to the problems that 1998- tiburons that have captive rotors.

yeah Random is right. If you have a 2k Tib you are fine to get just about anything that will fit a 4 bolt 40+ offset. I believe anything from 35+ to 40+ offset will fit the 2k with out any probs at all! SO tell them to lay off the crack and sell some freak rims and tires!

Random...I have some similar questions for my Lantra...don't know jack **** about wheels and shtuff..put some rims from my bros Civic...rims fit but they wobble over time and car begins to shake at around 40 to 60 mph...give it time the rims get loose and I have to tighten them. I've stopped driving my ride until I find out whats goin' on. My bro said I should change to non-capped lug nuts so wheels can for sure get tightened, would this help...I'm hoping it will. Can anyone shed some light on this.
Another thing I've noticed, knowing now that I must have captive rotors...the bolts and the rotor do not fit in the other lug holes on my rims ( 8 lug rim ) keeping the rim from being flush against the rotor, I'm figuring this is whats making my rims wobble and such...anything to bypass this and make the rims flush and fit? The rims are sweet and I would hate to have to get rid of them.

*Dai-FactoR* and anyone buying aftermarket wheels

Honda's and Hyundai's use a different bolt pattern. I'll assume the wheels you installed fit both 4x100 and 4x114.3

Hyundai Wheels (and most small Front wheel drive cars) are Hub Centric. That means that most of the "weight" of the car is carried on the center HUB of the wheel, and that the 4 lug bolts just hold the wheel in place, they do not hold up the car.

If the wheels you installed do not fit flush in the hub, then you will get the wobble you described. DO NOT DRIVE WITH THOSE WHEELS The wobble action of the wheel is wearing away the metal of the lug studs, and wheel material. One will fail eventually.

You need to get a "hub adapter" that will allow those wheels to fit on your car and be hub centric. Any wheel shop should have them, and they should be about $5 each.

Any aftermarket wheels will more than likely need a hub adapter, as they usually make them for the largest hub size and expect the consumer to add an adapter to make it the proper hub size.

The wheels MUST be hub centric if you use them on a Hyundai. This means you have no choice but to use them if you want to use that wheel. That simple.

The "ideal" choice would be to pick a different wheel that fits your hub, yes, but that was not one of your options. If you mean me reccomending the Hub Centric adapters, If the choice was using a 55mm wheel hub with a wheel that had a 60mm hub hole...I would say use the adapter. Becuase otherwise, sooner or later your lug bolts will break off and your wheel will fall off. NOT GOOD!

Do you have captive rotors (4 bolts in addition to 4 lug studs)? If not and you have 2 screws...did you remove the 2 screws?

Damn dude...maybe I should do a San Diego run this weeked and check it out 4 U. (if I can talk to Leftside and see if he can hook me up 4 a date with Linda!) *grin*
