Default Quaife?..HP > Traction >Twisted Axel?

Ok...Onpol...Had a LSD...I believe drag radials...he went to the track...got great traction..Twisted an axel..i believe he had around 225 hp..or so.

Now...I know Red is very interested in Quaife differentials as is random...

If 225HP with no wheel spin twisted an axel..i can imagine what 350-400HP will do to it..

Unless i am misreading something...Or making no sense..I dont know...

Anyone tell me why this wont twist the axel on RED's turbo setup....Im also will be sticking a turbo on my car with a fairly large amount of HP...and im not in the mood for a twisted axel

So..if someone can just clear this up for me..i would apprecaite it....
thx
:-)

Onpol did NOT have an LSD. He had a Phantom Grip.

Red and I are of the belief that the phantom grip is what caused the problem. The crazy dudes in korea slap down over 600 WHP out of beta motors...and they don't beef up their axles (that we know of).

Just to be safe...in case USA spec axles are butter soft....I am having some "BEEFY" axles made up. They should be good for 325 WHP, Red's set is being made for 450 WHP, assuming I ever get the final price out of them...and the green light from red that he wants a set.

The real LSD from the Q guys is going to run between 800 and 1200. Expect around 1000.

The Axles are $490 or $390 a set if we get 5 orders. (gotta check my old e-mails and my e-mail client is mess up).

The "phantom grip" is a "psudo" LSD. So that might be why you though onpol had an LSD.

Here is the description of a Quaife unit.

QUOTE
The QUAIFE Automatic Torque Biasing Differential enables your car to accelerate quicker and corner faster.

How? By getting the power to the ground!

The QUAIFE Differential powers both drive wheels under nearly all conditions, instead of just one.

With an ordinary open differential, standard on most cars, a lot of precious power is wasted during wheel spin under acceleration. This happens because the open differential shifts power to the wheel with less grip, along the path of least resistance.

The QUAIFE, however, does just the opposite. It senses which wheel has better grip, and biases the power to that wheel. It does this smoothly and constantly, and without ever completely removing power from the other wheel.

In cornering, while accelerating out of a turn, the QUAIFE biases greater power to the outside wheel, reducing inside-wheel spin. This allows the driver to begin accelerating earlier, exiting the corner at a higher speed.

The QUAIFE also controls loss of traction when the drive wheels are on slippery surfaces such as ice and snow or mud, providing the appropriate biased traction needed to overcome these adverse conditions. The QUAIFE Differential provides constant and infinitely variable drive. Power is transferred automatically without the use of normal friction pads or plates seen in other limited-slip designs.

The QUAIFE'S unique design offers maximum traction, improves handling and steering, and puts the power where it is needed most. A definite advantage whether on the track or on the street.

The QUAIFE is extremely strong and durable and since the Quaife is gear operated, it has no plates or clutches that can wear out and need costly replacement.

The QUAIFE is great for street driving or racing. Racers don't have to put up with locking mechanisms or spools that tear the steering wheel out of their hands when cornering. Because it behaves like an open differential during ordinary driving, street drivers will have trouble telling it's there until pushing the cars limits.

Here you can see a Quaife unit

Here you can see the KAAZ unit. It is a Clutched Differential
Kaaz Cluched LSD Image

Clutchs wear out. KAAZ reccomends changing your gear oil every 3000 miles with your oil changes. And replacing the LSD's clutch packs every 60 to 80 thousand miles.

Here you can see the phantom grip. It is that little block in the center of the open differential

Which would YOU want in YOUR car?

Little blue block! Little blue block!

Has Red's little group-buy thing already passed us up?
