LArry, do you know stock brake line sizes?

I'll check out eBay, I think I really need this.

Also question: My brake fluid keeps draining over 2-3 weeks time.

Could this be due to the wrong sized proportioning valve in the car right now, or do I have a leak somewhere?

you gotta have a leak. brake fluid doesnt just magically dissapear. wink1.gif

pump the brakes while parked for a while and then move the car and see if you can find any puddles.

Yup, brake fluid is in a closed circuit so if there is some missing, it's a leak somewhere.

Unfortunatly I don't recall the brake line size. Just call your hyundai dealer and ask, im sure they have a set on a shelf that they can mesure for you.

whats the advantage of the lever type? plus woulcn't you need two of them?

it seems to me that that would make it very easy to accidently change the proportioning while working on the car...

quickly change while on the track as everything gets up to operating temperature or to change as track conditions change.

ok, the lines look like they are 3/16 lines. i measures and got .190 inches which is damn close.

you will need to get a fitting that is 3/16" female on one side and 1/8"-27 NPT on the other to connect the brake lines to the proportioning valve(1 for each side). the wilwood PV i looked at actually came with the right fittings.

of course it will be hard as hell to install. you will have to run new hard line to position it so that it is in the right spot, which means buying hard line, a flaring tool, and a brake line tool to bend it properly. tons of other things i really dont feel like typing wither, cause its just completely impractical. it goes into a lot more too.

i looked at webtech and there looks to be no difference, as in, there arent 2 sets of specs listed for each.

what do you think? do you need a different one? do you feel the front brakes are being overworked? i know you have autocrossed. if the fronts are taking to much of the load, you will notice brake fade quickly, and then you are screwed pretty much.

I saw that on webtech too..the listings were the same for RD1-RD2.

I dont' really noticee any braking problems, I actually love the way the car brakes (ask REDZ how I felt after the Crest Run in ABQ). wink1.gif

But I was told they have different part numbers, thought maybe the RD2 Proportioning Valve distubuted more fluid to the rear than the DRUM RD1 one does....

maybe I'll just leave it like it is, I'm slowly running out of free time to work on the car as it is.
