if you do paint them yourself, try to get something better that a can of spray paint... maybe a sprayer or airbrush or something. and get some professional clearcoat too, chipping's a b!tch. my winter rims are spraypainted black, and they chipped over the past few months.

that'd probably work... i've just never had professional work come out of a spray paint can. most sprayers (even small ones) can create a finer mist, which will help for a smoother finish. and just make sure to use better-than-normal paint (heavy duty/professional/industrial/etc...).
and definitely a good/real clearcoat.

Oh God dude. Do not use any regular paint on those rims. You NEED to go with a good powder coat. Otherwise it will come right off. Look it up in the yellow pages. You'll regret going with even high quality spray paint.

The body shop should know what kind of paint to use and who to buy from. As far as I would think, you will just need to pick a color. Spray paint could just turn into a drippy nasty mess.
