I did some extensive studying on this subject, and here's the final answer (I think I posted it somewhere).
Directionality of the slots and dimples doesn't matter, what matters is the direction of the cooling vanes between the rotor plates. MANY rotors are manufactured with straight cooling vanes, so they can be used on either side. If the cooling vanes are NOT straight (straight in this sense being from the center of the rotor directly out, and not straight being curved or at an angle to the center of the rotor), then you want them curved to the front of the car, like the slots in the picture of this thread.

Slots and dimples that are curved in a direction should hit the brake pads first from the top point. If the bottom point hits first, you have them on backwards, just like in the pics lol.
The purpose of the slots is to deglaze the pads, and its recommended that the pads get deglazed from the top down.

As I recall, this is a correct statement. I know that the vanes on mine do indeed roll in a way that goes from "top to bottom" as they pass the pads. But my set of ceramic pads really make it a moot point, however it should be duly noted for anyone running semi-organic pads...
