Default mystery knocking noise

I can't find what's causing it! Everytime I go over a bump, there is a loud knocking that comes from the rear left of the car. I will be driving down the street and everytime the car bounces the knock is loud enough to get attention and it's quite embarrassing.

Looked everywhere, checked everything, it's not the exhaust or the cat. driving me nuts. help?

Is your strut blown in the rear? My stock struts knocked loud when they were blown.

+1 for struts/ strut mount. Jack up the car by the unibody so that rear tire is off the ground, and grab your tire and push it all over the place.

damn they're brand new KYB GR-2 only 1 year old! yeah it moves a little bit, but not enough for me to think there was ever a problem with it.

i did hit a nasty pothole last year but it only bent the front rim but the rear was fine. gonna have to see if i still have my old KYB from when i bought the car. are KYB's really that cheap?

Kyb's are simply stock replacements. There was another post the other day that gave a better brand to use, just dont see it right now.

Faiths recomended these in the cutting springs thread
"gr2s are cheap sh*t, agx's are where its at"
Now I have the GR2's myself and they have held up to my 2 inch drop so far, I do have a slight rattle in the back right, that might be going out on me.

what would be wrong with the strut mount?

i had eibach struts before, but the week i bought them i hit a median and took them out. i paid out of my own pocket too $700 just my luck.

maybe since GR-2 are stock replacements, that's why my eibach suspension was so hard. when you don't have money, options are quite limited sad.gif

AGX's cost the same as eibachs, and eibachs are rare special order. our cars suck!! of all cars i just had to pick the car where everything is expensive and nothing is made!

I'm investigating the same type of knock, only it's the front passenger side for me. I'll let you know how it goes.
