I don't think there's a DIY on this, but I took as many pictures as I could, and even threw on the RD2 wheels to verify them since there's so much controversy on whether they fit. Sorry, but it got dark near the end.

The calipers are from the 02-05 XG350. They are bigger, twin piston, and require no modification to mount to the Tib. You can find them on carparts.com really cheap. But be careful that they are not frozen or too rusted.
Thanks to Faithofadragon for supplying me with the calipers from his junkyard.

They are for a 2005 Kia Spectra and cost $126.87 shipped.
Again, I believe Faith gets credit for verifying these work.

Do the RD2 wheels fit? Yes, and maybe.
There is 1/16" between the caliper and the wheel. The wheel spokes to be more accurate. I didn't drive it with the wheel on, but it rotated freely. Now whether or not either will flex a little during driving or turning really hard is unknown. However, if you wanted, you could definately grind the caliper down another 1/16" and have plenty of room.

There is one small problem with the install though. The two retainer screw holes in the rotors don't match up with the holes in the hub. This means that the rotor just sits against the hub and you can't screw the rotor and hub together.
Apparently, the rotor holes are all centered up, but the screw holes in the Tibs hub are not. They are both slightly offset to one side.

Another thing to note: The spare does not fit. You either need to keep a full size spare, or a can of fix-a-flat.

If any of this is unclear, then let me know. All the other threads are really unclear, so I want this to be clear to everyone. Questions?

 

Where are the calipers from?

 

It says in the title and post: XG350. Faith found them in his local junkyard.
Search carparts.com for them in your locality. It's possible for you to find them for $30-50.

 

Any modifications to the caliper mounts? Sorry if I should know that, but I haven't payed much attention before. For those prices though and given that I have 16"s I may very well do this.

 

No modifications required. Although I forgot to mention this but I did have to modify the Wagner pads that I got. They didn't fit right. The inside pad was hitting the caliper bracket on top. I'm thinking that the pads are not manufactured right. I just grinded down the edge of the pad and got them to fit.
Don't buy Wagner pads!!!


I'm adding all this little information to the first post so it is absolutely clear. So keep the questions coming.

Did you do fronts and rears?

 

No, this is just the front. There's no point in doing the rears. But I'm going to find a set of d/s rotors for the rear though to match.

 

Did you do the weight differences?

Thanks for the info Jon, everything else on this has been so cryptic, or spread out.

At this price, I may suck up the extra weight and just do it.

Also, how did you coat them, I mean with what?

 

I used high temp spray paint. I don't remember what brand, but you can get it at PepBoys.

I don't have a kitchen scale to weight these with. It can't be more than a 5lb addition overall. It's worth it.
