Yep. My $900 set of wheels and tires failed just now. (well, one of them) I was on my way to work and started braking at the stop sign on my street. My car pulled super hard to the left so I turned around and got out to inspect, my passenger side front tire is half off the rim. What can cause this? I know they are inflated properly and had no prior problems or warnings.

if the bead somehow broke on it that would cause it to slip off, not sure what else unless some of the belts in the rubber came apart (unlikely)

Improper fit due to incompatible wheel & tire widths maybe . . . on whose advice did you buy the wheels and tires to go together/who mounted them?

i would guess the bead like yellow said..
incompatible tire size, and you would know something is odd by looking at them.. i had my stock 205/50/17 on my 17x8" rims on my srt, and it looked like a turd, but i drove on em, no issues.
if your tire was too wide, it woulda looked VERY odd, and would probably have to be sig. wider than your rims to cause an issue like that.
never heard of that happening before though.
please post your rim/tire size.

improper mounting could be the cause. being a low profile tire, what could have happened is the person installing them might not have used enough tire lube, or mounted 'em too fast. that could have caused the bead to rip/tear and failed just now.

They are TSW 18s. I don't know the exact size but when I get home from work I'll post them. I got them from Discount Tire so you would think they would do it right. I took it in and the guy that looked at it said they balanced them wrong also. (they didn't take the old weights off) So I had to get them rebalanced. It sucks though cause I'm kinda tied to them now since I get them balanced for free, when I would rather never see them again. I didn't even get an apology from the guy. He tried to make it sound like it was my fault or something. I almost lost control of my car and they didn't even say anything. He tried to say I could have hit a pot hole; but really? If this happened everytime somone hit a pot hole we would all be screwed.
