Lower ball joint
my dad's lower ball joint on his Santa Fe went out and the dealership wants to charge him $360 to replace it. The part is like $80 and asked me if I could do it. I've never replaced one but I'm pretty confident I can do it. what does it all require to fix it?
in a tib its pretty easy
but a santa fe i wouldn't know.
you'll need a ball joint remover, (ie heavy duty 2 prong folk) smile.gif
good luck
$360 my ass..

part, installed, and aligned would run prolly $220ish at a Sears Auto. check them out. you'd have to give 'em a call, because that isn't a part that we don't stock. they'd have to either get it from a vendor or order it for you...

that is a bit out of warranty.. its not covered in the 10yr/100k miles warranty..

But he does have the 5yr bumper to bumper 60k Warranty still right?
It should be covered!
of course... you could always pull the lower arm, drop it in the trunk of your Tib, and take it to a place that could press the old ball joint out and the new one in.. little more expensive, but cheaper than what the dealer wanted to rape your dad for.
