im looking to get a pair of slicks for the track. i was planning on using my stock wheels, would that work out alright? Im just looking to see if anyone has any reccomendations or knows where i can get a pair for a good price. my plans are stock wheels with the slicks in front and stick with my oz wheels in back. i would use the ozs for the track but i dont want to swap tires and they are 17s so they would be a little big i think. thanks for any help

im not sure where would be a good place to get em.. hopefully jongtr, gary, or tim will post in here..

i would go with using the stock wheels though, instead of buying new wheels just for the slicks, and i would go with the stockers b4 i would put slicks on 17s.. would be more practical to just have a set of slicks/rims ready to throw on at any time.

I've heard good things about the M&H slicks, like these:

If you want something street/track, the BFG Drag Radials are pretty sweet.

Nitto Tyres, seen a few drag GTR's and sport compacts rock these tyres. Supposed to be one of the best in Street/Drag radials.

This is slicks with stock diff and axles? Judging by your comment under your name. Is this a good idea?

Well Tim is running mid 11s on stock axles/diff on slicks, and has for quite a few runs now. Granted, he does not seem from videos that he's really hammering it off the line, but from the few high power cars here that have went to the track with slicks regularly, for instance Gary as well (12.6 on slicks), there really doesn't seem to be a problem with axles snapping like twigs.

Ive personally watched many hondas etc snap axles with half the mods he has. Not many hyundais goto the track so I didn't know. I do know it puts a hell of alot more stress on the drivetrain and everything Ive ever heard is our diff is probably the weakest link in the system.

Yea, we are all in uncharted territory at the moment basically. There are very few boosted guys here, and very few that visit the track regularly, so we're kind of touch and go on what parts can take what stress. I'm still on a stock 80k mile clutch so I'm definately not trying to find out if I can snap an axle or not.

Most of these cars are also fairly new to going to the strip, so just because Tim makes it down the track a few times @ 400whp doesn't mean on the 10th run hes not going to blow the diff open.

Why haven't you done a search? There's 2 threads that have pics of my slicks, the sizes, and the brand. And they're on stock wheels.
