ok... this has happened to me like 3 times so far and its gettin outta control and im wondering if something is actually wrong or not. when it gets really cold out here in mo... my parking brake freezes. its kind of a big deal because it locks up one of my back tires!!! first time it happened it did it at school and i had to drive through the whole campus with a tire locked up until it unfroze. is there anything i can do to fix this or am i just screwed?

mine does that to. In fact, I think a lot of cars do that. (usually mine is just a little sticky to start out, and so far I have never had to drag a wheel. The best thing to do for the winter IMO is just leave the car in gear to park it, and don't touch that parking brake. If, however, someone has an easy fix, then post it,.. but I have a feeling that it is simply the brake pads freezing to the wheels.

its the little rubber boots that are on the pbrake lines by the rear calipers. they tear up easily, and then water gets in them and freezes.

i really dont know how to fix it though. owned.gif

some kind of grease may work.

don't use hand brake in winter - the best solution.

pad and rotor (or drum) is warm, between them gets a water (from humidity from the air), then it froze and brake pad is frozen to rotor/drum.

Just because you may choose to do without using it to park your car does not mean you should do without it totally. Remember, the parking brake is also the adjuster for the rear brakes. You should use it on occasion to keep the rear brakes adjusted and ready to work.
