Lighter wheels, how much of a difference do they make?
I've always held the belief that shedding unsprung weight by going with lighter wheels reaps major benefits; improving handling, road feel, braking, acceleration and even fuel economy. However, after doing some reading around the net, I'm seeing the difference is not much noticeable. But maybe those instances are from people who didnt shed a lot weight.

I've only felt a difference in acceleration, and usually only with gutless 4 cylinder cars.
I could definitely feel the improved acceleration going from 17's to 14" alloys on the Elantra.

I swaped to the same size wheel but 3lbs (each) lighter.... my car is relatively stripped of frivolous weight and i'm running 205/50/15 tires the difference in braking is what sold me! The other aspects improved but not as much as braking. I don't feel you will be sorry w some lightweight wheels.
