Question on this topic:

I have the Toxxin's 17's and also the spacers (metal) Do I "need" to install them when mounting my rims? What will they do if I use the spacer? (keep in mind I have a 2k shark) Will it just kick the rims out almost even with the body?

Fast.Shark:

The spacers move the wheel OUT, so removing them would move the wheel IN. keep in mind, there is a differnce between a hubcentric adaper, and a SPACER.

The hub centric adapter fits inside the wheel, and makes the wheel hub fit the Disc hub. Wheel spacers move the wheel OUT away from the hub, some are still hub centric...some are not, depends on if it had an inner lip or not.

QÜIKTIB- You've got a 99, so you do NOT have captive rotors, but you may have to remove the phillips screws to make your wheels flush with the disc. I've got photos around somewhere, but I don't have time to dig them out with the dyno and drag racing saturday and the car show sunday, I'm sorta booked.

Look for them monday or tuesday.

I did notice a kinda weird noise on my joy riding tonight. These "spacer" I have were intended as spacer for Tiburonellite's Tiburon which is a 1st Generation. So I really dont need these correct? As I think if I did use them my NEW gorilla Lugs woundn't have enough thread to grip properly. Any thoughts on the humming noise? It's like a hollow humming noise.

You should not need the spacer, but you should need some kind of hubcentric adapter.

contact www.tires.com about getting a set for your tires/disc hub combo.

The thrumming you hear is probably the tread on the new wider tires.

My dealer told me they used the captive rotors halfway thru the '99 production. Any truth to this? It doesn't really matter now cause I bought YellowTiburon's '00 stock rims and they fit right on. But, next year I'd like to go to 17's so I'd still like to know if I have the captive or not. Thanks man.

As far as I know, all 1999's are non captive.

If you have phillips screws (2 in front, 1 in back) yes...they can be removed no problem.

If you have 4 bolts...no they cannot be removed unless you are doing maintenance on the wheel hubs/brake rotors.

FYI: I had one screw I had to take out per tire. Nice SOFT brass screw..no idea why they used a BRASS screw.
