How important is it to have bigger brakes with a turbo?

Default How important is it to have bigger brakes with a turbo?

So I plan on turboing my car next year and I was wondering with the increased power, should I find bigger brakes and pistons or will the stock brakes be fine? I only plan on going 8-10 psi, which wont be a crazy amount of hp for an accent but its always good to be safe than sorry when wanting to make the car stop.

unless you plan on doing some racing, i wouldn't really worry about it honestly..

or if you are one of those a**holes who boost from light to light and need to slam on the brakes alot.

brakes are always a good idea to upgrade, especially if you race and each .1 of a second matters, but for most real world, daily driving its not imperative. I had stock breaks on my turbo'd tib without any issues.

having a turbo and driving responsibly isn't going to make your car stop slower than it did without the turbo.

again, upgrading your breaks is always better than using stock because your stopping power will be increased and your stopping distance will decrease, but unless you are track racing and wanting to get your best time, there really is no need.

Just hit your brakes a little earlier if your going a little faster down the road.

Unless your autocrossing your car I wouldn't waste the money on the upgrade.

But that's cause I have no money so If you can afford it, go for it.
