Help settle a bet
I believe wider tires in the front can help, as in wider than your rear tires.
If you are looking to reduce understeer though, I would start with your suspension settings.
More knowledgeable people please come in and elaborate with all the big words.

Wider tires = more traction. More traction in front = less understeer. More traction in back = more understeer. I prefer to run a squared tires setup and adjust my alignment for neutral to tail happy steering.
