Default Heat cycling tires

Has anyone ever paid tire rack to do this, or do you just do it yourself?

Ive heard that if you do it yourself, you should drive normally, remove the tires, and lay them on their side for 24-48 hours. Can anyone confirm that?

It is really only good for dedicated track tires to make them more consistent with one another but if you are just driving on them I wouldn't waste my time or money.
