Have you ever had to fix a flat tire on the road?

Default Have you ever had to fix a flat tire on the road?

I was having a conversation with a buddy today, and somehow the topic of tires came up. Personally I've been through 8 cars and have never had a flat tire on any of them. I was curious how many people have actually had a flat tire they had to fix. Getting a nail stuck in it for a slow leak doesn't count.

So then, have you ever had to fix a flat tire on the road?

Umm... Once. It was on my Ford Ranger, but I had one of those fix-a-tire cans, because I didn't have a spare. Made it town the road to a tire shop.

I would say that doesn't really count, but idk.

Yeah, several times. Worst was when the wife shredded a tire on the Accent in the middle of nowhere so I had to bring a pair of spare wheels and tires to fix it up.

On one car, I had 7 flats. That's sort of how it normally goes for me. Last time I added it up I've spent more than $10k on wheels and tires all together.

hmm

in the pathfinder i dismounted a tire using a jack, the body of the car and a tire iron

was out offroading blew up 2 tires the same day, didnt have another tire

friends truck had the right size tire but different bolt pattern so we dismounted the tires swapped them (pain in the ass with a tire iron let me tell you)

reseat the bead with a can of starting fluid and some motor oil as lube

used a fix a flat can to air it up

total time frame = 4 hours or so

so i guess yes ive fixed a flat tire before

(and before anyone asks why didnt i just use my friends truck to get the tire fixed....ask your self this question, would YOU leave your vehicle in the middle of no where in new mexico? yeah sh*t gets burned to the ground that way)
