Yeah, that's a REALLY bad place to put the filter. Bad for the MAF too.

I will be ordering my CAI in a week or two (AEM)
I'm not sure exactly where the filter is placed in our cars. Would a bypass valve or heat/splash gaurd be a good idea or should i be fine. I know this has probably been cover a million times, but just thought i'd ask.

The filter will be in the fenderwell behind the fog light area. I wouldn't worry about the bypass valve or any kind of heat shield. They really aren't necessary.
