Electric Power Steering
What do you guys think about some car companies starting to do electric power steering versus having a belt driven power steering mechanism? I perfer the belt drives. Less problems that can go wrong and less electronics. I'm sure Hyundai will eventually get to the electric method though.
to me it's a bit of a mixed bag. it's a all electric system and cuts out the clutter in the engine bay where pump, fluid lines are installed
yes, it can do many tricks like soften or firm up the steering feedback from the complex steering electric motor, be it artificially or tuned to be responsive as a hydraulic system..hyundai's system seem's to be either a hit or miss, either way, electric steering is usually panned as robbing the owner of driving experience, not to mention the cost of a replacement system..but thats debated
now electric-steer-by wire is another topic thats drawing the line between car control between man and computers,
but i'll leave it at that for now.
